Today, I will be chatting with Molly Coath, asking her five questions. Molly's journey into interior design is a testament to sheer determination and hard work (not to mention her immense talent). You might recognize Molly from BBC1's Interior Design Masters. Since then, she has been involved in even more exciting projects...

1 - How did you start your design career, what is your background?
I was very lucky and got into interior design as my first job. I did creative a levels (art, textiles, fashion, music & drama) then got an internship for a luxury handbag design studio in London at 17…then went on “creative jobs.com” and saw an opening for an interior designer at Laura Ashley…it said “DO NOT APPLY WITHOUT A DEGREE” but I did and got it anyway as I was super enthusiastic and passionate. I worked there for 3.5 years, started my own business along the side and it evolved from there :)
2- What inspires your designs?
I am inspired by nature, antiques and colour! Always animals and plants…I’ve always said “if it’s good enough for Mother Nature it’s good enough for me.”
3 - In your career what has been your proudest moment?
I’ve had a few moments I’ve been really proud of…working with Matthew Williamson as something I always dreamed of and I had the privilege of working with him a few years ago and getting my own textile designs into a big cocktail bar in birmingham. Also my favourite moment was creating my own paint range and stall design for V&Co - I just put my heart and soul into every element of it and it went down a storm and I felt really genuinely delighted with the design and made a great connection with all the people I met at the event.
4 - Is there a project you would really love to do?
I’m DESPERATE to do a whole hotel! The bar, the restaurants, a couple of bedrooms…would be the dream!
5 - And finally if you weren't a designer, what would you be instead?
I know it’s embarrassing but I always had a passion for acting…would’ve loved to have done that but was always too scared! So either that or…fashion Design…or digital marketing…or a councillor…😂👏🏼 very indecisive!
